Volunteers
Volunteers are the
lifeblood of Hopes Float, Inc. Since the corporation has
no paid staff, all work to move the organization forward
is done through the work of volunteers.
This not only includes the volunteer time during
the actual trips, but the hours of pre-trip planning and
organization.
We have enlisted the help of volunteers through
publicity and word of mouth.
Our key volunteers are as follows:
Volunteer Coordinator: Tracks current volunteers
and orientates new volunteers.
This person is responsible for facilitating
Boater Safety Training, background checks of all
volunteers, and coordinating volunteers when trips are
scheduled.
Safety Coordinator:
Facilitates the scheduling of the Boating Safety Course,
and assists with safety training, (CPR, first aid) for
the volunteers.
Grant Writer: Responsible for researching and
writing grants for funding.
Boat Captains: These are
individuals who have completed the boating safety
course. These are the leaders of the trips, and are in
charge of overseeing the volunteers and clients while on
board the boat, to make sure all safeguards are in place
to have a safe and fun experience.
In addition, the boat captains are responsible
for transportation of the boat to the lake, all
preparation and clean up before and after the trip.
Boat Volunteers: Individuals who accompany our
clients on the trips. These volunteers serve in the
capacity of hosts and can be fishing companions for
those clients who are unable to fish independently.
In addition, these volunteers are responsible for
assuring the clients are following the safety rules and
regulations spelled in Colorado Boating Safety Course.
Office Support: These
volunteers manage the paperwork of the organization.
This includes printing of brochures, client information
sheets, liability release forms, and other day to day
paperwork involved in the smooth running of the
corporation.
Trip Scheduler: This person is responsible for taking
the calls from clients and organizations requesting a
trip on the boat. The trip scheduler takes all of the
client information, nature of the handicap, number of
clients per trip, and gives this information to the
volunteer coordinator when trips are scheduled.
Boat Maintenance: This team
makes sure the boat is kept in working order.
They clean the boat when needed prior to trips or
events in which the boat will be featured.
In addition, they are responsible for off season
storage and winterization.
